01 / METHOD
How to use this calculator
- Measure the repeat in the fabric length direction.
- Enter the complete cut-piece dimensions and usable width.
- Use the extra allowance for starting alignment, defects, and handling.
- Confirm motif placement with a physical layout before cutting.
02 / APPLICATION
Useful for
- Matched curtains and cushions
- Checks, stripes, and repeated prints
- Preliminary repeat-sensitive purchasing
03 / BOUNDARIES
Assumptions and limitations
What the estimate assumes
- Every row starts at the same repeat position.
- Pieces are placed in straight rows with one orientation.
What it does not model
- Horizontal repeat matching and half-drop layouts are not modeled.
- Motif centering can require more fabric than simple repeat rounding.
04 / NOTES
Frequently asked questions
What is a vertical repeat?
It is the distance along the roll before the design begins again at the same position.
Why is each row rounded separately?
A matched next row must begin on the repeat grid, so unused length can occur at each row boundary.
